How do I register my domain name?
Asia Pacific IT can register domain names of almost 100 ccTLDs (country code Top Level Domains) including the most popular generic extensions. Simply enter your desired domain name into our Smart Domain Search Box located at the top right hand corner of all pages, and click go.
How long can a domain name be and what are the restrictions?
A domain name can have a maximum of 67 characters including the extension (.com, .net, .org). A domain name can contain numbers (0-9), letters (a-z) or dashes (-). A domain name cannot start or end with a dash (-). A domain name cannot have characters such as (! @#$%&? ~: _).
Will my name and contact information be publicly available?
Yes. Information about who is responsible for domain names is publicly available to allow rapid resolution of technical problems and to permit enforcement of consumer protection, trademark and other laws. This information is available to the public through Asia Pacific IT's whois service.
What if the domain name I want to use is already taken?
You can choose an alternative domain name, or if you feel that you have a right to the unavailable domain name, you could follow the domain dispute policy and try to acquire that particular domain name.
How long does it take to register a domain name?
The domain registration is completed as soon as Asia Pacific IT receives the completed registration form and payment. The registration process takes minutes. A confirmation e-mail is sent to the domain name's administrative and billing contacts with the details of the domain registration.
NOTE: The zone files, which make the Internet work, are updated twice daily, 7 days a week, beginning at 5:00 am and 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Requests received and completed by these times will be included in the next zone file update. However, your newly created/modified record may not be visible in the whois database for 24-48 hours from the time of the zone file is updated.
How do I sell/give/transfer my domain name?
In order to change the owner of a domain name you need to complete a Registrant Transfer. Asia Pacific IT has an easy automated Registrant Transfer system (for all extensions except .CA, .US, .DE and .EU and .PRO) and you can use it through your One Click Domain Manager. The new Registrant must have (or must create) a Asia Pacific IT customer account to receive the domain.
How do I change a Registrant for .CA, .US, .DE, .EU, PRO domains?
In order to change the owner (Registrant) of a domain name (.ca, .du .eu .us and .pro) you need to download and fill in the Registrant Change Application Form. The form must be notarized and then mailed or couriered to us at the following address, along with the USD $35 fee:

How do I renew my domain registration?
If Asia Pacific IT is the Registrar for your domain name, you can renew and extend the registration term for your domain at anytime by logging into the Account Manager area of our website and clicking on the "renew Domain" link from the side menu. Domains can be renewed and extended for periods from 1 to 10 years.
How do I modify an existing domain name record?
You can update contact names for administrative contact, billing contact or technical contact, the registrant address, e-mail address, phone number and fax number by logging in to the your account manager.
My domain name is about to expire. How do I renew it?
If you registered your domain name through Asia Pacific IT, you may renew it through your Account Manager using the Client Login.
If you registered your domain through one of our partners such as an ISP, web host provider, or business, they should have domain renewal capabilities on their web site. If they don't, please contact them to find out about their renewal process.
That said, if you have not renewed your domain name 12 days prior to expiration, Asia Pacific IT will contact you with a reminder notice and a renewal link will be placed on our web site at the client login area.
How do I cancel my domain name?
Since our governing body does not allow cancellations with a refund, we cannot offer them to our clients.
If you no longer want your domain name, we suggest that you attempt to sell your domain name through a domain name broker (do a search for "domain name broker" on any search engine) or give your domain name to an interested party. Asia Pacific IT will soon offer a service for selling domains.
How do I change my domain name server (DNS) information?
If your domain name is registered through Asia Pacific IT, you can login to your account manager to modify the name server information for your domain name at any time. DNS information is processed at 5:00 am and 5:00 pm. Eastern Standard Time.
I did a whois search. Why do I only see Asia Pacific IT's information?
A global whois search will reveal the Registrar of the name and the name server(s). Registrars are responsible for maintaining the customer contact information for each domain name they register. If you want contact information about the Registrant of a domain name, you must check out the whois database at the Registrar.
How often does Asia Pacific IT update its whois information?
Our whois is one of the most frequently updated databases of all Registrars. Our system updates every half-hour on the hour.

I already have a web site. How can I get my domain name to point to my web site?
With every domain registered, you receive domain and e-mail forwarding. Please see our domain forwarding FAQs for details.
I have misspelled my domain name. How do I go about getting it corrected?
Unfortunately, once a domain name is registered, it can not be altered, including spelling corrections. An alternative is to register the correctly spelled domain name and forward the incorrect one to your correct one. This will allow your customers can still find you even if they make the same mistake.
When I register my domain name with Asia Pacific IT, who actually owns it?
Unlike some Registrars, when you register your domain name with Asia Pacific IT, the Registrant that you listed on the order form is considered the legal holder of the domain name for the duration of the current registration term. Asia Pacific IT has no interest in owning your domain name(s). If we wanted them, we would have registered them already!
Do I have to have a web page now that I have a domain name?
Domain name registration is simply a name reservation service, and you are not required to do anything with your domain name. You may wish to simply reserve it, forward e-mail through it, or construct a web site. It is completely up to you.

What is a domain redemption?
A domain redemption is a service that enables the original registrants (domain name holders) to redeem a deleted name. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires gTLD Registries to provide such services. The registrant must act IMMEDIATELY if he or she wants to keep the name.
What is a Redemption Grace Period?
The Redemption Grace Period (RGP) is a thirty (30) day period that begins after a registrar requests that the registry delete a domain name. The reason for the introduction of the RGP process is to provide additional time to catch erroneous deletions before the name is made available for re-registration.
How long is the Redemption Grace Period?
The Redemption Grace Periods commences the moment the domain is explicitly deleted by the Registrar and lasts for a thirty (30) day period or until the domian is redeemed.

How do I redeem my domain?

Why does it cost more to redeem a domain rather than renewing a domain?
The Registries charge a premium cost for the redemption service and also require manual reports to be submitted for each redemption request. This results in a higher service cost.
